FLEXIBLE UTILIZATION OF TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMME (FUTECH KIDS)

FUTECH KIDS

Program Objectives

The FUTECH Kids Program offers STEM activities that are very powerful and enjoyable in ways to engage young people with STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects, and deliver a wide range of good benefits. These activities can ignite a new interest of students in STEM subjects for some and provide a platform for others to extend their learning by engaging in relevant tech (STEM) activities. They can offer real-world experiences, give a deeper understanding, and suggest different ways to approach and learn STEM subjects. Most importantly, they are full of fun, very exciting, and allow all beneficiaries to explore STEM subjects in imaginative and inventive ways.

BENEFIT TO PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

  • STEM activities for primary-aged children can stimulate pupils’ excitement about STEM at their formative age and prepare them for the next steps at Junior High and Senior High levels.
  • STEM Clubs also support pupil attainment, helping them to learn about the group and independent working whilst boosting key skills and confidence levels, creativity, innovation, and leadership.

BENEFIT TO JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

  • Students involved in STEM activities have the potential to improve their confidence, learning, and understanding, which increases skill sets and levels of attainment.
  • Through their enjoyment and enthusiasm in taking part in STEM Club activities, students have the opportunity to challenge their abilities and learn more about STEM subjects and the influence they can have on their life and the world around them.
  • Participation in a STEM activity helps students realize that STEM subjects can be their field of interest, thereby increasing their confidence and overall employability skills level.

BENEFITS TO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

  • STEM activities provide the platform and offer an opportunity to ignite students’ interest in STEM subjects through innovative activities, as well as developing practical, teamwork, and leadership skills that will support their classroom learning and boost their employability skills.
  • They allow students a rare opportunity to direct their learning and explore their interests with support from teachers.
  • They are also a chance to give them insight into STEM-related careers.

BENEFIT TO EDUCATORS

  • Teaching at FUTECH Kids and schools is more effective when the science, Math and I.C.T teachers of these schools are engaged in it. There are proven benefits for those involved in teaching at STEM Clubs. These benefits include:

    • Enriching subject knowledge to enhance and revitalise teaching skills.
    • Club educators gain increased confidence and enthusiasm in their ability to teach STEM subjects in new and exciting ways.
    • The Club educator can help students relate to STEM subjects by referring to various STEM subject areas relevant to Club projects or activities.
    • Involvement in STEM teaching benefits educators, helping with career progression, and improving leadership and management skills.
