FUTECH Kids Leadership Series: Kitsi Desmond Leads Goal Setting Masterclass

Ho | Volta Region | Ghana | June 19, 2026

The FUTECH Kids Leadership Series took a powerful turn on Friday, June 19, 2026, as Kitsi Desmond, Executive Director of the Genius IT Foundation, delivered a masterclass on Goal Setting for post-JHS graduates of the program.

Titled Goal Setting: Pathway to Success for FUTECH Kids, the session underscored a core philosophy of the foundation: building exceptional young Ghanaians requires more than technical skills. It requires direction, discipline, and the courage to pursue meaningful ambitions.

Desmond opened by drawing a sharp distinction between a wish, a goal, and a system. “A wish is a dream. A goal is a decision. A system is the action,” he told participants, setting the tone for a session that was both practical and transformative.

At the heart of the masterclass was a seven-step goal achievement method, guiding students through the process of defining specific targets, writing them down, setting deadlines, identifying obstacles, building action plans, and — critically — doing something every single day to maintain momentum.

The session also tackled procrastination directly, reframing it not as a time management failure but as an emotional challenge. Desmond equipped students with practical strategies including breaking tasks into smaller pieces, applying the “5-Minute Rule” to overcome the resistance of starting, and setting up external accountability with trusted peers or mentors.

Participants concluded the session with a personal challenge: document one meaningful goal for their time in the program and report their achievement before graduation.

The FUTECH Kids Leadership Series reflects the Genius IT Foundation’s commitment to developing well-rounded young people—equipping them with the skills to build Ghana’s future and the mindset to believe they can.
